A blog about books. Oh, and some other stuff too.

Cover Reveal Teaser: Inaccurate Realities

It seems like just yesterday that several of our friends in the blog community – Christa S, Sara E, and Andrea M – decided that there was a hole in the market in the area of literary magazines for young adults, specifically focused on speculative fiction in all forms. Their definition includes science fiction, fantasy, paranormal, horror, dystopian, steampunk, cyberpunk, alternate history and everything in between, and they are all devoted followers of the genre.

Through various forms of fundraising and a determined spirit, they created a fabulous new opportunity for writers of YA speculative fiction to showcase their work. The first issue with the theme of “Fear” came out earlier this fall, and they are well into the planning stages of issue three! Issue two is almost ready to go, and I’m so pleased to be part of the teaser cover reveal this week, as well as part of the official release on Saturday.

Issue two – with the theme of Time Travel – will be released on January 21st, 2014, and the picture below is a section of latest cover.

Cool, right? Want more info? Check back here on Saturday when I will post the full cover for your viewing pleasure! As well, be sure to check out their website, their Goodreads profile and connect with them on Twitter.

Interesting in being a part of an upcoming issue? Check the website for themes, and review the submission requirements below:

  • 2,000-5,000 words. We may be willing to accept a little over and under but these would be exceptional cases.

  • Send to submission.inaccuraterealities@gmail.com. with the subject line “Submission. Issue # + Title of Your Story”

  • In the body of the e-mail please include your name, story title with word count, byline, address, and any professional publication credits you think relevant.

  • Also include the full text of your story in the body of the e-mail in either Times New Roman (12 pt) or Courier (10 pt). Please note that unless we request attachments they will be deleted.

  • Submissions are welcome from authors of all ages, as long as the content itself is appropriate for Young Adults.

  • Simultaneous submissions are ok. Please let us know, however, if it has been accepted somewhere else.

  • You may only submit one story per theme, but you may submit to multiple themes at one time.
