GIVEAWAY: Celebrate the final book in Lisa McMann’s UNWANTEDS series!

The UnwantedsIsland of Dragons

The time has finally come… it’s the final book in Lisa McMann’s incredible series, The Unwanteds. Hard to believe that it has been five years and seven books, but we are finally at the ultimate challenge for Alex and Aaron, as they fight to save Quill and Artimé. This series has been a long-time favourite of mine, and one of my go-to recommendations in the library and the bookstore. What I love about it is that it crosses gender and ages – boys and girls love the action-packed adventures, and I’ve had kids read it alone and parents read it as family read-alouds over warm nights at the cottage. I think I may know some parents who will be more upset at it being the final book than their kids!

All is not lost, however … you can WIN the entire series – yes, all seven books -from the lovely folks at Simon & Schuster Canada! Unfortunately, this contest is Canada only due to shipping logistics, but it is an AMAZING prize. Additionally, you have the chance to take your books to be signed by Lisa herself as she will be in Canada for an event. Lisa McMann will be promoting her book The Unwanteds: Island of Dragons with Kevin Sylvester, who will be promoting his book MINRS and Kevin Sands, who will be promoting his book The Blackthorn Key as well. This event will take place on Sunday April 24, at Chapter’s Markham (located at 175 Highway 7 East in Markham, Ontario).

To enter, you must complete the Rafflecopter entries HERE – but you can fulfil one of them right now by leaving a blog post comment! Please note: Simon & Schuster Canada is not responsible for having these books signed – to do so, you must attend the event in person.

For two entries, answer the following question: In the first book of the series, we learn the way of the people of Quill: each year, all the thirteen-year-olds are labelled as Wanted, Necessary, or Unwanted. Wanteds get more schooling and train to join the Quillitary. Necessaries keep the farms running. Unwanteds are set for elimination – but instead, are taken to a magical place called Artimé. Do you think you would be classified Wanted, Necessary or Unwanted, and why?

Update: Congratulations to Lauren D. from Victoria, BC on winning the set! You should receive your books from Simon & Schuster shortly.

island of dragonsTwins Alex and Aaron Stowe are put to the ultimate test to fulfil their destinies and save both Quill and Artimé from the deadliest enemy the cities have ever faced in the thrilling conclusion of the New York Times best-selling Unwanteds series, which Kirkus Reviews called “The Hunger Games meets Harry Potter.”

Head mage Alexander Stowe and his friends successfully fended off the latest threat to their magical world of Artimé with the help of a surprise ally. But old enemies have secretly been plotting against them. Now Alex must lead his people in a final epic battle, one they can’t hope to win alone. Will Artimé finally know peace or will all they’ve fought for be destroyed forever?

  1. I think I would be unwanted, because I enjoy art, music, and I play guitar, which would all count as infractions, and make me an unwanted.

  2. I feel like I would be classified as Wanted!

  3. I definitely think I would be Unwanted because I am a dancer, a singer, and I’m always writing poetry or stories. I’m way too creative-thinking-oriented to be Wanted or even Necessary. It’s also really hard for me to be conscious of my singing, etc. so I would be easily caught lol
